NYT’s Reporting on Harvey Weinstein to Be Made Into Hollywood Film

Two major Hollywood production companies are set to produce a film about the team of reporters at The New York Times that revealed decades of sexual misconduct allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Brad Pitt’s production house, Plan B, has acquired the rights to the film along with Annapurna Pictures. The movie will focus on reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, whose work uncovering an avalanche of allegations against Weinstein recently earned the Times a Pulitzer Prize. Their reporting, along with that of The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow, has been credited with helping to spark the #MeToo movement. Producers reportedly plan to focus not on the numerous sexual abuse claims against Weinstein but on the difficulties the reporters faced in uncovering the stories. When the Times first published its bombshell report about Weinstein’s alleged decades-long sexual harassment, the now-disgraced movie producer quipped, “The story sounds so good, I want to buy the movie rights.”
