President Obama and the first lady arrived in Boston Thursday morning for an interfaith memorial service at 11 a.m., as the hunt for the person responsible for Monday’s attack continues. Obama will dedicate remarks “to those who were gravely wounded or killed in Monday’s bombing near the finish line of the Boston Marathon,” according to a White House briefing. Throughout his tenure as president, Obama has traveled four times to cities reeling from intense violence, though all previous trips have followed mass shootings. Thursday’s service comes on the heels of a “shameful day for Washington,” as the president put it, after Senate Republicans filibustered a majority of his gun-control proposals Wednesday.
