President Obama confirmed Sunday night at 11:30 p.m. that al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden has been killed in Pakistan. Earlier in the day, the U.S. launched a targeted operation against bin Laden's compound, harming no Americans. After a firefight, they killed bin Laden and took custody of his body. Obama said he was first briefed of a lead about bin Laden being found in August 2010—taking action last week.
