President Obama, in a press conference Tuesday morning, urged bipartisan cooperation on the budget plan, which he says will bring spending in line with revenues by 2015. “You guys are pretty impatient,” he told reporters when asked about entitlement programs. “If something doesn’t happen today, then the assumption is that it’s not going to happen. This is not a matter of ‘you go first’ or ‘I go first.’ This is a matter of everybody having a serious conversation about where we want to go and then ultimately everybody getting into that boat at the same time so it doesn’t tip over.” The president also stood up to criticism that the U.S. was slow to react to Egypt's unrest, saying, "We ended up seeing a peaceful transition, relatively little violence and relatively little, if any, anti-American sentiment." He offered cautious support for the protests in favor of more democratic regimes that are spreading throughout the Middle East in the aftermath of Egypt's uprisings.
