Obama: N. Korean Nuke Test ‘Grave Threat’

President Obama released a statement Friday condemning North Korea’s latest surprise nuclear test. He called it a “grave threat” to “international peace and stability.” The test, which created a quake that registered as a 5.3-magnitude seismic event, was widely denounced by neighboring countries and international watchdogs. “North Korea stands out as the only country to have tested nuclear weapons this century,” Obama said, calling Pyongyang’s campaign of ballistic missile launches “unprecedented.” He added, “To be clear, the United States does not, and never will, accept North Korea as a nuclear state.”
