President Barack Obama on Saturday night encouraged the African-American community to vote for Hillary Clinton, saying it would be a “personal insult” to his legacy if they stay home on Election Day. “I will consider it a personal insult—an insult to my legacy—if this community lets down its guard and fails to activate itself in this election,” Obama said at the Congressional Black Caucus gala. “You want to give me a good sendoff? Go vote.” The president also joked about the so-called “birther” controversy, in light of Donald Trump’s acknowledgement that he was born in the country. “I mean: ISIL, North Korea, poverty, climate change—none of those things weighed on my mind like the validity of my birth certificate,” Obama said. “And to think: that with just 124 days to go, under the wire, we got that resolved.”
