Obama: PSU Sanctions ‘Appropriate’

Speaking out about the harsh NCAA sanctions on Penn State for the first time since they were announced, President Obama has said the disciplinary measures were “appropriate” in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse ordeal. “I have been a big admirer of Penn State football,” Obama said during an interview with an Ohio sports talk radio show. “Obviously Joe Paterno was a great football coach. But there are some things that are just more important than sports,” the president said, like protecting children from predators. Obama concluded that the sanctions were a “good message that we just have bigger priorities.”
