Obama to Propose Weekly Job Ideas

In a speech to auto-industry workers on Thursday, President Obama vowed to boost America’s economy by proposing new ideas for job creation on a weekly basis. He also addressed public anger over the debt debacle and blamed “bickering” in Congress for thwarting economic recovery. He said the economy was not in crisis for lack of solutions to issues like boosting growth and lowering unemployment rates, but that policy gridlock was a result of people “playing political games.” Beyond promising to lay out “more proposals in the days ahead,” Obama did not go into too much detail about new initiatives. He reiterated that he would call on Congress to extend a payroll-tax cut and pledged to solidify trade agreements with South Korea, Panama, and Colombia. He also said the seesawing stock market was beyond his control and largely due to Europe’s financial crisis.
