Maybe Obama should mount a campaign stop in Virginia where he just croons Al Green. The incumbent is counting on a big turnout from women in the crucial and hotly contested swing state come November, and has so far managed to maintain an 8 percent lead in the Old Dominion, mostly because of the 19 percent advantage he holds among the fairer sex. The “gender gap” may turn out to be key in this election, as Republicans have struggled–think Todd Akin, Sandra Fluke–to show that they are in touch with the needs of women, and Democrats have seized the advantage.
