Beware national holidays. After announcing a delay in the employer requirement the day before Independence Day weekend, The White House will announce today (the day before Thanksgiving) a one-year delay for online enrollment of small businesses, through which they could insure their employees. “We plan to offer online enrollment capability by November 2014, for coverage that takes effect in January 2015,” says HHS. The Small Business Health Options Program was often held up as one of the most significant positive changes about the law, as getting quality, affordable insurance for small business employees was one of the major problems with the American healthcare system. The delay comes after administration officials are working to fix the federal website, and have not been able to focus their attention on the small-business exchange.
