An estimated 11.4 million people signed up for health-care coverage or renewed a plan during the Affordable Care Act’s second enrollment period, the White House said Tuesday via a video posted online. In the video, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell delivers the preliminary estimates to President Obama. “The Affordable Care Act is working,” Obama said in the video. “It’s working a little better than we anticipated.” More than 1 million people enrolled for private health insurance during the final nine days of the period, which ended Feb. 15. The figure could change as Obama has offered those who hadn’t finished completing the process to do so by Feb. 22, while it could also fall if users decline to pay their premiums, the AP reports.
