After upset, pres. rallies around "core elements."

Following Tuesday's upset in the Massachusetts special election race, which eroded the Democrats' supermajority in the Senate, President Obama has been struggling to find a way forward for his discouraged party. After warning legislators not to "jam anything through" until Republican Scott Brown has been seated, Obama advised lawmakers, in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, to "move quickly to coalesce around those elements in the package that people agree on." Obama's advisers are proceeding cautiously and refusing to retreat from health-care reform, though no decisions have been made as to the next step.
