Occupy Wall Street Spreads Across U.S.

The Occupy Wall Street movement finally occupied more than Wall Street this weekend, and it may be picking up steam. The protests have gone on for over two weeks in New York City, and seem to be spreading across the United States as copycat movements—planned on social networking sites—spring up. Chicago and L.A. staged rallies, while San Francisco and Pittsburgh are in planning stages. The website occupytogether.org serves as meeting ground for protesters. Saturday, more than 700 were penned in and arrested in a protest on the Brooklyn Bridge. The police said they were detained for using the roadway level of the bridge, and said that those who used the walkway were not arrested. But many organizers accused the police of tricking them by allowing and even encouraging them to use the roadway, then subsequently trapping and cuffing them.
