Oculus founder Palmer Luckey was noticeably absent from Thursday afternoon’s OC3 keynote conference in San Jose, California. The Daily Beast reported two weeks ago that Luckey funded Nimble America, a pro-Trump “shitposting” organization working against Hillary Clinton. Luckey is a mainstay at Oculus developer conferences, making his absense in light of the Beast’s recent reporting—and calls for his firing from Oculus game developers—all the more curious. According to the BBC, Luckey skipped this year’s conference to avoid being a “distraction” from the content announcements scheduled for the day.
