LAST HOLDOUT

Officials: Iraq Has Recaptured Last Town Held by ISIS

Iraqi forces have recaptured Rawa, the last town still held by ISIS in the country. Iraq’s Joint Operation Command on Friday raised the national flag over the foothold, the command said in a statement. Though pockets of resistance still exist in Iraq, Friday’s development means that ISIS has been defeated in every town and city. The commander in chief of Iraq’s armed forces, Haider Al-Abadi, said in a statement that the “liberation of Rawa district in mere hours reflects the great strength and power of our heroic armed forces and the successful planning for battles.”
