Turns out NBC’s much-derided+ tape-delay coverage didn’t upset viewers too much. The network’s broadcast of the London Olympics, which came to a close Sunday night, was the most-watched TV event in U.S. history, with 219.4 million viewers tuning in. Those numbers are good enough to pass 2008’s Beijing Games, which were watched by 215 million people. Viewership for Sunday’s Closing Ceremony, which featured performances from The Who and the Spice Girls, were up 12 percent from Beijing’s spectacle, and 58 percent from 2004’s Athens conclusion.
