Carla Bruni filmed her much-anticipated cameo in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris this week—but it was much easier said than done. The French first lady's scene involved her entering a grocery store—and leaving minutes later with an armful of baguettes. But according to the Daily Mail, the scene—in which Bruni spoke no lines—required 35 takes. Bruni reportedly had trouble taking her eyes off the camera, and kept staring at the lens straight-on. Though Bruni's husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, was on set to watch her film, she shared a moment of down time with the film's star, Owen Wilson, on the set. Bruni paired jeans with a white linen shirt to fend off the Parisian heat.

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake filmed Friends with Benefits this week at Rockefeller Center in New York City. Mila Kunis looked sleek in a black skirt and metallic platform sandals. Timberlake wore a carefully tailored suit and skinny tie. Benefits is about a headhunter that recruits a magazine editor—and they end up sleeping together because they're both too busy to date.

Katie Holmes has recently been upstaged by her daughter Suri Cruise when it comes to fashion. But the actress had to step up her style game this summer while on the Toronto set of the upcoming miniseries The Kennedys. Holmes plays ultimate style icon Jackie O., known for her tailored suits, A-line dresses, pillbox hats, strands of pearls, and of course, the largest, darkest designer sunglasses one could buy. “Her clothes were magnificent," Holmes told Us Weekly of Onassis’ attire. “I feel so lucky. We have these wonderful seamstresses who are creating beautiful dresses that are obviously replicas of real things she wore. Armani made two dresses for me to wear… Her great style was both appropriate for every event that she went to and also classic, and also things that were wearable. I feel really lucky to be playing her.”

The always fashionable cast of Gossip Girl took to the streets of America’s fashion capital in July. While filming on location in New York’s Meatpacking District, Blake Lively brought the glamour in this black and white cut-out gown with blue crystal detailing at the waist and neck from designer Jenny Packham. The dress, along with accompanying sky-high cobalt heels, brings the kind of drama that only the CW series could match.

Anna Faris took a beachfront barefoot stroll on the set of the romantic comedy What’s Your Number in Gloucester, Massachusetts in June with costar Chris Evans. Though she plays a promiscuous woman who decides one of 20 men she's already slept with in her life could actually be “the one”—and then decides to pay each of them a visit—Faris was clothed on the set in a demure blue and white pinstripe dress. Despite her description as the loose Delilah, Faris’ wardrobe—she’s been seen in various covered-up, conservative looks around Boston—tells another story. One thing’s for sure, Evans has the clambake look down.

Courteney Cox-Arquette looked like teen slasher royalty in her bright, tight purple dress on the set of Scream 4 in Michigan in July. The actress is reprising the role she stepped into 15 years ago as ambitious reporter Gale Weathers (who now goes by Gale Weathers-Riley), looking like barely any time has passed. The 46-year-old former Friends star paired the form-fitting look with matching platform heels. Before she filled Weathers’ shoes again, Cox-Arquette told the Associated Press she didn’t know where Scream 4 would bring her. “There are really only a few of us that survived… I don't know. I'm probably miserable, and then I'm sure a lot of murdering will happen.”

While her stint in this summer’s action-packed hit Inception is still on everyone’s minds, actress Marion Cotillard has already moved on to another set in the capital of France. Shortly after the July 4 weekend, the Oscar-winning actress stepped into a black, bejeweled full-on flapper ensemble for Woody Allen’s upcoming film Midnight in Paris. In the film, a romantic comedy about a family traveling to the city of lights on business, Cotillard stars alongside Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates, and Adrien Brody. And there’s another stunning starlet who is making an appearance—France’s First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

Kate Hudson did not venture far out of her hippie comfort zone when she slipped into this look on the set of Something Borrowed in New York in June. The film, based on Emily Giffin’s beloved chick lit book of the same name, is the story of a Manhattan lawyer (played by Ginnifer Goodwin) who becomes involved with the fiancé of her best friend, played by Hudson. Though Darcy is a bratty, betrayed bride, Hudson’s wardrobe borrows more of her signature, laid-back style.

Megan Fox who? Though the newlywed starlet took on the femme fatale role in Michael Bay’s first two installments of the Transformers franchise, the part went to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for Transformers 3. On one of the first days on the Milwaukee set at the city’s art museum, the 23-year-old Victoria’s Secret model stood alongside the film’s star Shia LeBeouf in a skin-tight white mini dress. “Rosie’s a natural in front of the cameras and looks stunning in every scene,” one source on set told the News of The World.

Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has held many a golden statuette in her hands before, but the star looked like one on the set of her latest project, Mildred Pierce, an HBO remake of the 1945 film noir starring Joan Crawford, which was based on an earlier novel of the same name by James M. Cain. While on the New York location this summer of the family melodrama and murder mystery movie, Winslet wore an all-gold draped dress and sported the typical 1930s hair wave for her latest period piece.

Southern girl Reese Witherspoon looked right at home as she sat atop a beautiful horse in a checkered vest and white ensemble on the set of her upcoming movie Water for Elephants. In the Great Depression-set film, based on Sara Gruen’s book of the same name, Witherspoon plays Marlena, a star circus performer with an affinity for horses, who is married to the head trainer, August. Though Witherspoon clearly knows how to rough it on set, her signature blond 1930s curls are perfectly in place.

Fellow crimson-haired starlet Evan Rachel Wood is featured alongside Kate Winslet in the upcoming updated film Mildred Pierce, which filmed in New York City this summer. The 22-year-old actress also sported a hairstyle suited for the time as well as a floor-length, hip-hugging black gown and bedazzled veil. Wood stars as Vera, the oldest child of Winslet’s Pierce, a middle-class housewife raising her children alone during the Great Depression. The all-black look is something her on-again off-again boyfriend, Marilyn Manson, would likely approve of.

Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson took the backseat in this summer’s latest installment of the franchise Eclipse. But the British star was front-and-center while filming his latest movie Water for Elephants in Los Angeles with Reese Witherspoon in July. Though his nemesis in the blood-sucking series is Jacob Black, for this adapted flick, Pattinson plays another Jacob (last name Jankowski), who spends his years with a traveling circus. Don’t let the premise fool you—the 24-year-old actor looked more the part of a dapper gent than a freak show subject in his vest and bowtie.

While filming on Paris’ famous Avenue Montaigne, Gossip Girl starlet Leighton Meester (who plays the always fashionable high-society Blair Waldorf) donned this Spring 2010 burnt orange ruffled Oscar de la Renta look in early July. The rise and fall hem and eye-catching color of the strapless ball gown add just the kind of theatrics the teen series is known to bring.

This is an unusual ensemble: while other stars wore full gowns and towering heels on set recently, Madonna opted for loose and comfortable clothing. This week Madge was on location in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France, where she is directing her new movie, We. The movie is about a woman who has an obsession with going to auctions. She told Interview magazine: "I've been writing it for the last two and a half years, to tell you the truth. It's been kind of an obsession of mine."
