Egypt has ordered the arrest of the Muslim Brotherhood’s leader on charges that he was trying to incite violence after Monday’s massacre. Meanwhile, a coalition of liberal leaders in opposition to Egypt’s interim president, Adly Mansour, has rejected his government’s timetable for an election to be held in a year. The coalition, known as the National Salvation Front, had been run by Nobel laureate Mohamed ElBaradei until his appointment as interim vice president Tuesday. The NSF said it had not been consulted on the timetable. Liberal economist and former finance minister Hazem el-Beblawi was named interim prime minister yesterday and says he will begin forming his cabinet. But ousted president Mohamed Morsi’s party, the Muslim Brotherhood, says that it had rejected an offer to join the transitional cabinet.
