The Oprah Winfrey Network won’t turn a profit for Discovery Communications this year, but only because the company is ploughing $50 million more into it. Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav said he expects OWN to be “a very big business,” and that he thinks the new investment will help put the network on the road to longer-term profitability and growth. Programming will be the focus of the investment, with 24 new shows set to roll out this year.
