We’ll file this under the must-be-nice category. Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is buying 98 percent of the island of Lanai, a 141-acre island that’s part of Hawaii. It’s not clear how much Ellison will pay for the property, but the asking prices was reportedly between $500 million and $600 million. Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie said Ellison had a long-standing interest in the island, which Ellison purchased from company Castle & Cooke. About 1,900 people live on the island, which doesn’t have any traffic lights. The island is known as “Pineapple Island,” though the most recent owner shelved farming to build a resort and housing.
