Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Monday officially banned “ex-gay” or “reparative” therapy for minors, when she signed a bill into law. “Conversion” therapy has been discredited and denounced by every major mental-health organization in America. California, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia already have similar bans in place. Brown, who was appointed governor earlier this year, is the nation’s first openly bisexual leader of a state.
