Oregon officials have confirmed a second measles outbreak in the state, this time linked to an infected person traveling to the area from Illinois, The Oregonian reports. Marion County public-health officials said Tuesday that one person has been diagnosed with the disease, while another person is suspected of having it. Officials are reportedly waiting on lab results to confirm the second case. According to The Oregonian, the infected person had traveled abroad in countries where measles is common. The individual reportedly landed at Portland International Airport and toured throughout Salem, potentially exposing a number of people to the virus. The latest case—unrelated to the Vancouver-area outbreak that has infected 76 people as of Wednesday—is part of the alarming rise in the number of measles outbreaks nationwide, a trend that has sparked debate about the dangers of the anti-vaccination movement.
