The Oscars will not have an official host this year, the Academy confirmed Tuesday. Instead, the awards show will recruit stars for various roles in place of “one marquee name to kick things off in a monologue filled with Trump zingers,” Variety reports. Comedian Kevin Hart stepped down from the hosting gig in December after his homophobic tweets resurfaced. ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said the uproar was actually beneficial to the broadcast, noting that the “lack of clarity” kept the Oscars in the public conversation. The February 24 ceremony will be aired on ABC.
