If anyone thought the Penn State scandal would derail the big business behind college football, think again. Ohio State University hired Urban Meyer to be the school’s football coach Monday. The deal, one of the biggest in college-sports history, was for $4 million. It will cover salary and bonuses for graduation rates and championship-game appearances. Meyer replaces Jim Tressel, who was booted in a scandal involving players being paid for memorabilia. Over the next six years, OSU will pay nearly $27 million for a car stipend, golf membership, 50 hours of jet use, and tickets to every home game for Meyer.
