According to Nielsen, the Ohio State-Oregon national football championship was the most-watched event in cable television history. More than 33 million people watched the Buckeyes defeat the Ducks 42-20. The game generated a 31 percent increase in viewership over the 2014 BCS title game between Auburn and Florida State. Half of TV viewers in Columbus, Ohio watched and more than a third watched in Portland, Oregon.
