Almost immediately following Miley's outlandish VMA performance, "twerk" was officially added to the Oxford Dictionaries lexicon. The definition: Dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance. While it seems like Miley had a lot to do with the addition, Oxford notes that they had been watching the word long before Cyrus got all up on those teddy bears . Bitcoin, emoji, selfie, and FOMO, are some of the other new words added. The online dictionary focuses on current English and includes modern meanings and uses of words.
