We’re all sad that Malala didn’t win the Nobel, but this is not the right way to react. Pakistan’s education officials have banned Malala Yousafzai’s memoir, I Am Malala, in 40,000 private schools in the country. Adeeb Javedani, president of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association, said the 16-year-old activist “represents the West” and not Pakistan. Yousafzai was shot in the head last year by the Taliban, and has advocated for girls’ education ever since. Although she is hailed by a hero by many, the Pakistani Taliban has since vowed to shoot her again.
