The court bumped the case because no one had actually seen Rimsha Masih burning the pages—and many suspect a cleric planted evidence to spark hate against Christians. Under law, despite a young age and potential mental problems, the girl could have been executed if convicted of blasphemy, specifically desecration of the Koran.
