Sarah Palin was met by a roaring crowd as she spoke at Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally on the National Mall Saturday. Palin told the audience that America didn’t need to be changed, merely restored, and that supporters should tap into the same strength that carried other Americans like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King, Jr. She called on civilians to honor the men and women serving overseas, saying the military is “a force for good in this country, and that is nothing to apologize for.” Meanwhile, Beck also offered a hopeful message, urging his fans to “concentrate on the good things in America, the things that we have accomplished—and the things that we can do tomorrow,” after describing the country as having “wandered in darkness.” The rally is taking place on the anniversary of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Beck said this week that King’s vision has been “corrupted” because character “doesn’t even matter in the country anymore.” "This is a moment, quite honestly, that I think we reclaim the civil-rights movement,” he said.
