Political polling (and baseball) statistics demi-god Nate Silver has focused his mathematical brainpower on ranking the relative livability of New York City’s neighborhoods for New York magazine with, to some, groan-inducing results. Park Slope is No. 1. Despite a bad rating in diversity, Silver says Park Slope is “the very definition of a well-rounded neighborhood,” with good public schools, a low crime rate, and a high number of restaurants and artists. Harlem fell into last place, thanks to its high crime rate and poor public schools despite much gentrification in recent years.
