Rick Santorum has received a heartfelt endorsement from none other than 1950s music sensation, fervent birther, and all-around conservative activist Pat Boone. Santorum vowed Sunday that, despite taking fourth place in Nevada’s primary during the weekend, he would continue competing for the GOP presidential nomination. Boone praised Santorum as “a consistent defender of conservativism and the values our great nation was founded upon” in a press release Sunday. “I began supporting my friend, Ronald Reagan in the 1960s and I was a Reagan delegate at the 1976 convention because I saw in him a strong leader who would defend traditional America,” he wrote. “I see many of those same qualities in Rick Santorum. He’s experienced, honest, and deeply principled.”
