Patron Harry to Feature in Walking With Wounded Doc

Prince Harry will feature in a new documentary about the team of wounded war heroes who attempted to climb Mount Everest.

'Harry's Mountain Heroes' will be screened on the UK's ITV channel later this year, following the story of a five-strong team of servicemen representing the charity Walking With The Wounded who ultimately had to call off their climb because of unusually high temperatures at the summit which made conditions unsafe.

The WWTW team was 'narrowly missed' by an avalanche, and missed two rockfalls by 'no more than three minutes'. While they were on the m,mountain, one Sherpa was killed and another, who was hit by an avalanche, broke his back after being swept down a crevasse.

The documentary covers Prince Harry's role as Patron of Walking With The Wounded, the charity behind the expedition

Although he couldn't make the journey with them due to work commitments with the army, Harry joined the team in the days prior to their departure for Nepal, as well as following their fortunes during their ten week attempt.

Diana Howie, Factual Commissioning Editor at ITV said: "The innate drama and emotion of this journey, along with the personal involvement of Prince Harry, creates a moving and very real story of triumph over adversity, offering compelling viewing for our audience on ITV1".

Edward Parker, founder of Walking with the Wounded, said: "Raising awareness of our wounded is an integral part of the charity's mission. We'd like to thank ITV for its support this year and [production company] Twofour for its dedication and continued excellence in telling our story."
