House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) called to “cleanse” the FBI and backed the release of the Nunes memo in remarks to reporters on Tuesday. The memo, which Congress voted Monday evening to eventually release, allegedly outlines “surveillance abuses” by U.S. intelligence. “Let it all out, get it all out there. Cleanse the organization,” said Ryan. “I think we should disclose all this stuff. It’s the best disinfectant. Accountability, transparency—for the sake of the reputation of our institutions.” The four-page memo is to be released this week as a result of the party-line vote, and a competing memo produced by Democrats was voted to not be released.
