If Photoshopping is wrong, Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to be right. A historic photo showing the 61 Democratic congresswomen sworn in Thursday isn’t exactly what it seems. The four members in the back—Reps. Yvette Clarke, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Shelia Jackson Lee, and Corrine Brown—were later Photoshopped into the image. The congresswomen allegedly left the photo op early due to “freezing temperatures” and the need to get back to work. When questioned about her office’s decision to post the retouched photo, House Minority Leader Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended its validity. It is a “historical record of who the Democratic women of Congress are,” she said. You can’t really argue with that—and being that it’s Pelosi, you really wouldn’t want to.
