Oakland A's pitcher Dallas Braden gave his grandmother a rare Mother's Day present today, throwing a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays as she watched from the crowd. With his victory, Braden becomes only the 19th pitcher in MLB history to throw a perfect game, and the first A's pitcher to do since Jim "Catfish" Hunter in 1968. The last perfect game was thrown by Mark Buehrle for the Chicago White Sox last July.
