It looks like someone else may be ready to throw his hat into the presidential ring. Texas Governor Rick Perry reportedly has advisers making inquiries into his popularity in Iowa, the key early caucus state, although they caution that Perry has not decided yet if he will run. Perry’s chief consultant Dave Carney, an adviser to Newt Gingrich until recently, said the governor will start calling key Iowa Republicans after the Texas legislature wraps up its special session at the end of June. Although Perry has long said he had no interest in running for president, he recently indicated that he is considering it after all—and has even begun working to raise his national profile.
