Even Rick Perry’s critics are coming to his aid in the growing scandal over the racist name of his family’s hunting grounds. Perry “doesn’t have a racist bone in his body,” said Texas Democratic state Rep. Ron Wilson to the Texas Tribune. Democratic Sen. Royce West concurred: “I don’t agree with him on policy issues, but you can point to many things he has done that were sensitive to ethnic minorities.” Perry himself called the camp’s previous title, “N----rhead,” an “offensive name that has no place in the modern world.”
