After weak performances in recent debates and losing his front-runner position in the GOP race, Texas Gov. Rick Perry attempted to stage a comeback on Friday while outlining his jobs plan. Speaking at a steel plant near Pittsburgh, the Republican presidential candidate said he could create 1.2 million jobs if elected in 2012. Perry slammed President Obama for favoring “green technologies that are not producing as many jobs as promised” and said he would immediately roll back federal regulations that are stifling economic growth and “tap American energy” (oil and gas). He also said he would repeal the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority over greenhouse-gas regulations.
