A wealthy businessman who has flown Texas Gov. Rick Perry to campaign events on his private jet is in hot water with the Securities and Exchange Commission. On several occasions, Perry and his family have flown on the jet of Brian D. Pardo, the CEO of Life Partners Holdings Inc, a company that sells investors the right to collect on strangers' life-insurance policies. The company is currently being investigated by Texas regulators and the SEC for securities fraud. Federal election laws allow candidates to fly on supporters' private jets, provided they reimburse them. Perry's campaign says they reimbursed Pardo.
