"Sex sells" may be a golden rule for advertising, but some may take the notion too far. The animal-rights group PETA is now launching a pornography website. "We are preparing to launch our own peta.xxx site, but instead of just showing people our iconic ads, we then show them how animals suffer for entertainment," said spokeswoman Ashley Byrne. Peta.xxx will feature naked women alongside abused and beaten animals. The organization has often been criticized for objectifying women with its racy ads or slogans such as "Save the Whales, Lose the Blubber," but few expected the bizarre xxx domain. Another PETA spokeswoman told the Huffington Post that “racy things” are the best way to deliver a message to individuals.
