Petraeus Apologizes for Affair

Time to start the apology tour. Former CIA director David Petraeus told a Los Angeles veterans’ group on Tuesday that he “regrets” his extramarital affair that led to his resignation. “Needless to say, I join you keenly aware that I am regarded in a different light now than I was a year ago,” said Petraeus, speaking at a dinner honoring the Southern California ROTC. The retired four-star general had resigned in disgrace in November 2012 from his position at the helm of the CIA after admitting to an extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. Petraeus received a standing ovation at Tuesday’s event, and he was allowed to cut the cake, an honor usually reserved for the highest-ranking member in the room.
