Elena Kagan isn’t the only one in the congressional hot seat Tuesday: General David Petraeus has confirmation hearings before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Taking questions, he vowed to “look very hard” at Stanley McChrystal’s controversial rules of engagement, which were so strict that some soldiers complained they could not adequately defend themselves. Fox News has already reported that one of Petraeus’ first actions will be to modify the rules. The Senate is expected to quickly confirm Petraeus.
