Seven Danes—including three children—were kidnapped by pirates in the Indian Ocean, Danish officials said Monday. The children, ages 12 to 16, were taken hostage with their parents and two other adults. Danish officials said the distress call was sent out Thursday, and media reports on Monday had unconfirmed reports the ship was headed for Somilia. This incident comes only a few days after four Americans were shot and killed by Somali pirates. Danish officials said they had been in close contact with the kidnapped individuals, but officials did not reveal whether the pirates had made any demands. This is believed to be the first incident involving children.
