Polanski to Go to Extradition Hearing

Filmmaker Roman Polanski may be extradited to the U.S. after fleeing for Europe following his conviction on child sex-abuse charges more than 30 years ago. Polanski will attend a court hearing in Krakow on Feb. 25 that will determine whether Poland will acquiesce to the U.S. extradition request. “In line with the declaration that was made before, Mr. Roman Polanski will appear in the court,” said Jan Olszewski, one of Polanski’s lawyers, on Tuesday. In 1977, Polanski was convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl. He fled in 1978 after having served 42 days under a 90-day plea bargain.
