New York police on Wednesday searched the New Jersey home of Pedro Hernandez, the man who has confessed to killing six-year-old Etan Patz in 1979. Hernandez, 51, has been charged with second-degree murder after he confessed two weeks ago to luring the boy to the basement of a bodega where Hernandez worked and then strangling him. Hernandez’s court-appointed attorney, Harvey Fishbein, says his client is schizophrenic and suffers from hallucinations. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the search is “part of a continuing investigation.”
