
When Chinese premier Hu Jintao had a state dinner at the White House in 2011, President Obama was criticized for serving wine that later reportedly retailed for $399. Earlier this week, the Obamas hosted an elaborate state dinner in honor of British Prime Minister David Cameron. Fox News reports, the wines were far more modestly priced this time.
The President, like any public office-holder in a democratic society, must be careful to make sure his actions are in keeping with the expectations of those who elected him.
