A week ago people who labeled themselves likely GOP voters preferred Rick Santorum to Mitt Romney 36 percent to 26 percent. But according to a new Gallup tracking poll released Monday, those voters now prefer Romney to Santorum 31 percent to 29 percent, while Newt Gingrich comes in third with 15 percent. But another nationwide poll out today shows participants—also likely GOP voters—pretty much split, with 36 percent support for Santorum and 34 percent going to Romney. Tuesday’s Michigan and Arizona primaries should help answer the question of whether or not Romney has surged back into the lead, but there are two polls for that, too: Public Policy Polling shows Romney up 39 to 37 percent in Michigan, while Mitchell Research/Rosetta Stone shows Santoum up 37 to 35 in the same state. In other words: too close to call.
