Pope Francis Opposes Pot Legalization

Testing his goodwill among the younger generations, Pope Francis told an audience at a drug-enforcement conference in Rome on Friday that he opposes the legalization of recreational drugs. He addressed the debate happening in countries from the U.S. to Uruguay, saying that efforts to legalize drugs “are not only highly questionable from a legislative standpoint, but they fail to produce the desired effects.” Francis has frequently spoken about the perils and “evil” of drugs.
