Pope Francis offered his sympathies to the Muslim community for “the tragedy they have suffered in Mecca” before his homily at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday. “I unite myself to you all,” he said. More than 700 Muslim pilgrims died Thursday during a hajj stampede in Mecca. The pontiff also wished Muslims around the world a happy holiday for Eid Al-Adha.
