Powerful Storms Hit Houston

WILD WEATHER

Tornadoes touch down near San Antonio.

It’s shaping up to be a wild week in Texas. Forecasters predicted powerful storms will hit Houston on Tuesday, one day after two tornadoes touched down in the southern part of the state on Monday. The National Weather Service said that the storms will hit Houston this morning, with 50 mph wind gusts reported in some areas and 30,000 without power in the early part of the storm. Forecasters said there is a 30 percent chance of severe weather hitting the area, which could bring not only the damaging winds but also hail and tornadoes. Flood warnings were still in effect early Tuesday for northern Texas, as high-water marks closed roads from Dallas to Fort Worth. Meanwhile, two tornadoes hit Medina County, near San Antonio, on Monday, which were blamed for two 18-wheeler accidents on Interstate 35.
